Board of Directors

MouloatseDr. O Smit

Dr. Smit holds a PhD in Virology from the University of Pretoria. She is also a qualified Perfusionist and is credited with inventing a method for the preservation of organs during the transplant process. Dr. Smit has over 30 years of experience in HIV research and is a recipient of the Portuguese government’s Bordalo prize for science. She is the inventor of Viro-Gen’s intellectual property and serves as the Executive Chairperson of the board.

Mr. TF Ntuli

Mr. Ntuli holds a B.Econ.Sci in Actuarial Science from the University of Witwatersrand. He also holds qualifications in Actuarial Techniques as well as Investments and Finance from the Institute of Actuaries, London. He has applied his professional trade at the First National Bank, Hannover Re-Insurance and Motseng Investment Holdings, a boutique Private Equity firm. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Ntuli has raised start-up funding for several private companies across sectors spanning Mineral Resources, Manufacturing and Mobile Technology. Mr. Ntuli serves on the boards of various privately held companies across Africa. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of Viro-Gen responsible for the overall management of capital raising efforts for Viro-Gen research activities.

Dr. K Alexandre

Dr. Alexandre holds a PhD in Virology from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He is the co-author of an international text on HIV therapies and has published and co-published over 15 research papers. He is the recipient of the James Gear Fellowship and a World Health Organisation ‘Africa top 30 Healthcare Innovators’ recipient. Dr Alexandre served as the Head of Diagnostic Laboratories at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, South Africa, until 2022. He is an inventor of a rapid molecular screening technology and presently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Viro-Gen.

Dr. G Mouloatse

Dr Gontse Moutloatse is a Medical Research Scientist. She received her Doctorate in Biochemistry at the North-West University (NWU) in collaboration with the Radbound University Medical Center (UMC), The Academic Medical Centre (AMC) in Netherlands and the Division for Analytical Bioscience of the University of Leiden. Her expertise and passion in metabolomics focused on assessing the impact of in-utero antiretroviral (ARV) exposure on neonates, resulting in her research being published in several prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals.
